Wall Street Journal: A Nation of Entitlements

This from the Wall Street Journal titled, “Obstacle to Deficit Cutting: A Nation on Entitlements.”

Efforts to tame America’s ballooning budget deficit could soon confront a daunting reality: Nearly half of all Americans live in a household in which someone receives government benefits, more than at any time in history. … A little more than half don’t earn enough to be taxed … As recently as the early 1980s, about 30% of Americans lived in households in which an individual was receiving Social Security, subsidized housing, jobless benefits or other government-provided benefits. By the third quarter of 2008, 44% were, according to the most recent Census Bureau data.” So the trend is growing.  In the eighties, 30% were in a household receiving government checks.  At the end of the story, a man says: “‘I don’t like taking government money,’ … but ‘what else is there?’”

This is one of the reasons for the existence of this website. Most people don’t have a clue as to the extent that communism has forced itself on the United States. Democrats have created a voting bloc for themselves. Half the population wants them to get elected to keep the money coming to them from the other half. So in this way, Democrats (a.k.a. communists) are buying votes. Once that comes to full reality, Democrats will rule unchecked and usher in other aspects of communism granting themselves, the ruling class, as the only ones worthy of being wealthy. We see it happening today, just not to the extent that it will be unless we reverse the tide.

That’s why it’s important for us to vote out Democrats this November. We’ve got to shrink this government so that liberty may increase.
